Developers MCD had sold more than half the apartments at The Oaks in Sutton Coldfield before they finished the show home. The recently-launched showpiece apartment is a new focal point for the popular scheme in Jockey Road, 20 one and two bedroom units, priced from £164,995. Existing Arts & Crafts build-ings in the area served as inspiration for the overall look of the development. Unusually for new build apartments, there are also traditional touches to the interiors. "The design of the homes has universal appeal because they cleverly combine a range of more traditional design features such as architrave, classic windows and French doors with more contemporary styling such as designer kitchens with mood lighting and an array of high quality appliances," said Liz Allister of MCD. "The Oaks has attracted great attention, not only from local parties who already know and appreciate the area, but also from overseas investors who recognise the potential. "This was evident during our open weekend, which was highly successful, both in terms of the quantity of visitors and the quality of inquiries." The show home has been finished in a fresh mix of mint green, lilac and white with dark wood flooring as contrast. Bathrooms are by Villeroy & Boch, tiling by Porcelanosa and taps by Hansgrohe. Contemporary comforts also include electronically-operated entrance gates, secure parking, advanced alarm systems for ground floor homes and state of the art technology links for sound systems and computers. MCD is best known in the Midlands for its landmark city schemes including Islington Gates and the award-winning King Edwards Wharf on Sheepcote Street. There have been further honours recently from British Waterways for the company's work on regeneration of the canalside. "Our developments are all very carefully chosen and individually designed to bring out the very best in their location." Two bedroom apartments at The Oaks are priced from £232,995.
